Fashion Citation Over at Splendora you can check out What Not to Wear 2008. Generally, I'm not really interested in what other people are pointing out as fashion don'ts. But I'll admit it's still fun to browse the photos and see what different celebrities are wearing.

I also stumbled upon some funny, paper Fashion Citations. I can't imagine anyone actually handing these out but I do have plans to attend an 80's themed party in a couple weeks. I'm sure if I brought them along, I'd run out long before the cassettes stopped spooling and the breakdancing ceased.

Speaking of the 80's, I wonder what the worst fashion crime was from that decade. Ankle high socks with heels? A single white glove? Krimping your hair? It's so difficult to pick just one. At any rate, when you figure it out, grab your trusty pen and send the 80's a fashion citation to set the record straight and don't forget to cc me on that memo. I can't wait to hear what you think.

Watson Kennedy Seattle Last Saturday I went on the Seattle Architecture Foundation's Art Deco Walking Tour of downtown Seattle. On the way I spotted this fantastic home decor store called Watson Kennedy. Clearly, I need to get out more.

Watson Kennedy
1022 First Avenue
Seattle, WA 98104
206.652.8350
www.watsonkennedy.com

I snagged this photo of the front display window as I was passing by, continuing onwards with the architectural walking tour. I did seriously consider ditching to see to what kinds of fun treasures I could find inside. But I talked myself out of it by telling myself I'd definitely get back there later. Well, now it's later and I want to go back!

If you're looking for some unique things for your house, or a thoughtful gift for a friend, check out Watson Kennedy. It looked like Anthropologie in there, except local and more unique!

What are you telling people about yourself when they see your office space or when you wear your favorite outfit? Head to the University Bookstore to hear Sam Gosling read from his new book, What Your Stuff Says About You. This psychology professor asserts that our stuff reveals the inner workings of our minds in ways that we don't realize.

Last year I discussed the topic of camping and fashion. Like I stated previously, I don't think it's a good idea to run out and buy a bunch of designer clothes just for camping, especially if you're going to be hiking over jagged rocks or plan on wrestling in the mud. But that doesn't mean you can't look pulled together while camping or that buying something new specifically for "roughing it" is completely out of the question.

Camp ShirtLike this roll-up sleeve shirt from Old Navy. It's a great layering piece and at only $20, if you do happen to stain it in the process of roasting/devouring smores, you won't lose too much sleep, right?

Or you could just stay away from white and buy a black one. Or you could buy one of each. I mean, $20, c'mon. Plus this shirt would also look cute with jeans, or capris, or shorts. It's just a good basic.

I have a similiar shirt that I bought at REI for 3 times as much years ago. Sure it's made of some fancy water wicking fabric that claims 30 SPF protection, has side zip vents and a couple hidden pockets but is that why I love that shirt? No. I love it because of the roll-up sleeves and because it's a great layering piece. So for $20, I think this version from Old Navy is a steal.

(Plus a couple years ago on a camping trip I had the bright idea to store the M&M's I was snacking on in one of those fancy side pockets and then I forgot about them...and then they melted...and now that shirt is permantely stained in a rainbow of candy colors. Had the shirt only cost me $20, it wouldn't have stung quite as much.)

Are you tired of trying to finding the right key when you go to unlock that door, bike lock, tool shed? I know, right? If only there were some fun way to distinguish one key from the next. Oh wait. There is!

MonKey Key ToppersMonKeys and Keytars to the rescue. These little monkeys are so freaking cute. I can easily tell one key from another on my key fob, and yet, I still somehow feel compelled to pick up a set. Perhaps, I simply need to find more things to lock up.

At any rate, both key topper sets are pretty inexpensive and you need some too, right? The keytar even comes in a union jack version. I mean, really, what more could you ask for? Oh right, more things to lock up.

Practical meets adorable meets fun.

Last weekend I was at Nordstrom and a shiny black necklace caught my eye. I immediately picked it up, tried it on and loved it. But then I looked at the price tag which was $128 and immediately put it down and walked away. Maybe it was the fact that I had just scored a dress for $27 at Forever XXI but I couldn't justify spending 5 times that amount on tiny necklace no matter how pretty.

But when I got home and tried on the dress I realized how perfect that necklace would have been alongside it. That's when I started kicking myself for not giving it a little more thought when I was there. And, so yes, then a couple days later I drove back to Nordstrom just to go look at that necklace AGAIN. I wasn't totally sure I was going to buy it because, hello, still really expensive. But I was more open to the idea since I remembered what a deal I got on that dress and could think of all kinds of creative ways to justify how necklace + dress = all evens out to sane prices when you add them together and divide by two. (Shopping algebra is my friend.)

Dabby Reid Earrings Anyways, when I got to Nordstrom I ended up trying on that necklace but I also found a couple other necklaces that were similiar but for a lot less. So I picked up one of those and some matching earrings. ($48 for the necklace and $24 for the earrings.)

You see, I'm always wearing the same earrings. In fact, I've done the math and am now fully aware that I have been wearing the same earrings for the last 13 years. 13 years people! Good thing I picked a classic pearl earring but still. I think it's time to shake things up a bit. Don't get me wrong. I like them, but I've recently realized if I'm going to really do my New Year's Resolution up right, that means new earrings too.

I wore the new earrings and necklace today. I have to say it was nice to put something different on, although I'm sure the pearl earrings will continue to be my steady standby. It's funny how little details can make the same old outfit feel fresh and new. The earrings and necklace I bought were by Dabby Reid and I'd definately recommend checking her line out in the store (since there's a super limited selection online). Shiny, sparkley, pretty. I like!

Knee Highs I'm all hot or cold. I'm either burning up or freezing my butt off. There is no in between with me. Given the choice between being too hot or too cold, I would choose death. That's why I'm all bundled up in the winter and stripping clothes off in the summer; constantly searching for that elusive happy body temperature medium.

Which might be why it's such a challenge to find the right thing to wear when the morning starts off in the 50s and ends up in the 70s. Sure, I'd love to pull out all my cotton skirts but it's not quite warm enough for me to bear leg it yet. And that's when I remembered all those knee highs I bought last month. And now knee highs are my new favorite thing. Especially these ones by Nine West.

So, if you're like me, and shutter at the thought of air conditioning on a perfectly temperate summer day, I suggest you pick up a pair of knee socks and take them out for a spin. Or at least until the weather warms up a little bit more. The perfect season transition accessory, I say. (Well that, and the good old standby scarf.)

Vintage Metal Tray I picked up this vintage metal tray at an antique store in Snohomish, Washington a few years ago. I wasn't sure what I was going to use it for. I just knew I liked it and since it was only $1.25, it was willing to risk buying it only to turn around and donate it to the Goodwill if it didn't work out between us.

But as it turns out, it's perfect for storing my makeup. Also, the tray makes it easy to quickly move the whole collection, which is sometimes very necessary when you're living in a house with a single, very tiny bathroom. Since I found this tray, I've been keeping my eye out for more of them. Of course, there are a bunch on Esty in various shapes and sizes. And I love this idea to turn an old metal tray into a bulletin board. Yay for old, recycled things!

If you've visited one of the Gap Inc online stores recently (Banana Republic, Pimperlime, Old Navy, and The Gap), you've probably already noticed a great new feature. Now you can buy from any or all of those sites but you only have to pay for shipping once. Shipping is a flat rate of $7, but if you only buy items from Piperlime shipping is totally free. Not bad.

Now if someone could just combine shipping charges for Forever 21, Nordstrom and J. Crew to a flat rate of free, I'd be golden. Ah well, a girl can dream.
