John Cook
John Cook writes about startups, entrepreneurs and venture capital for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, a beat he has covered in the Seattle area for nearly a decade.
In 2000, he launched the P-I’s Venture Capital Notebook - an online resource for those in the startup and venture capital communities. The site - developed in conjunction with P-I online developer Mike Thompson - won a top prize from the Society of Professional Journalists in 2001.
He is also the author of John Cook’s Venture Blog.
Since 1998, John has covered hundreds of entrepreneurial ventures - from Avenue A to Zillow.com.
A native of Wooster, Ohio, John started his journalism career in high school compiling obituary and election information for The Akron Beacon Journal. He graduated from Gettysburg College with a degree in history, earning Phi Beta Kappa recognition and Academic All-American honors in soccer. Before joining the P-I in 1999, he covered business and technology for the Eastside Journal in Bellevue.
His interests include backpacking, bicycling, running and watching English Premier League soccer.
