« Amazon takes stake in Animoto | Main | Report: Kindle sales at $750 million in 2010? »
Founded in 2003 by Francisco Martin, Strands has raised $55 million to date.
The Bellevue company, backed by Ignition Partners and led by former Classmates.com executive Anil Pereira, said that the weak U.S. dollar is driving interest among Canadians and British who are looking for second homes in the U.S.
The company is calling the site the first "social commerce network" for college students. Just like how Facebook started, inCampus limits participation to college students. It is currently available at the University of Washington with plans to expand to other campuses later this year.

I was an investor in AdRelevance. Will Hodgman is the poster child of what a Founder/CEO should aspire to be. He is a passionate, inspiring leader that is also very smart, creative and tenacious. Equally important, he looks after the interest of his investors over his own. While this may sound odd, remember, he took their money on a promise of delivering a very positive ROI. Every Founder/CEO should take a page from Will's book. Will, when you start your next company, please call me - I will commit to invest before you give me the pitch."
