Seattle startups fared well at the Angel Capital Expo in San Francisco today.
The event, sponsored by the Keiretsu Forum, brought together 18 startups who presented eight-minute pitches to angel investors. At the end of the day, investors voted for their favorites using fake currency.
And the top winner was Earth Class Mail, the Kirkland company that allows people to view their postal mail online. The company, formerly known as Document Command, was featured in a story I wrote last December.
Second place went to Seattle educational products startup Braincandy, while Kelowna, B.C.-based Signalink Technologies came in third.
All three companies presented at last week's Early Stage Investment Forum, so maybe the practice helped out.

Forget the ad space altogether. It's time that Microsoft to show the long term vision that created their success in the first place. Clearly there are far more valuable, provocative and lucrative problems for technology to solve than consumer spending and entertainment. It's time for the Blue Monster to think bigger thoughts."
