Qpass co-founder Chase Franklin, who guided the wireless company through plenty of ups and downs before selling out to Amdocs for $275 million last year, has joined the board of Seattle mobile startup Ontela.

Franklin joins another Qpass veteran on Ontela's board. SeaPoint Ventures' Tom Huseby, the former chairman of Qpass, was named chairman of Ontela last summer.
Can Huseby and Franklin recreate the Qpass magic at Ontela? The jury is still out. But Ontela founder Dan Shapiro -- who attracted $4.5 million in venture financing last November for the mobile imaging startup -- said the dynamic duo are a good fit for his company.
"If you look at the Qpass business model and look at our business model, there are some really good analogies," Shapiro said.
Franklin will continue to serve as chief of strategy for content and media at Amdocs.
