Nathan Myhrvold of Intellectual Ventures tells News.com in this video that he has a "thick skin" and is "willing to have people call me a patent troll."
The former chief technology officer at Microsoft, who founded Bellevue-based Intellectual Ventures as a way to capitalize on patents and create new entrepreneurial companies, has collected more than 3,000 patents in the past five years.
According to the News.com story, Intellectual Ventures has become one of the more controversial companies in the tech industry -- partly because many fear that it will use its patent portfolio to bring litigation against other companies.

Forget the ad space altogether. It's time that Microsoft to show the long term vision that created their success in the first place. Clearly there are far more valuable, provocative and lucrative problems for technology to solve than consumer spending and entertainment. It's time for the Blue Monster to think bigger thoughts."
