Scotty and Fiddy have created quite the challenge for themselves. They are on the downside of hitching a ride through 50 states in 50 days. Some people travel like that already but these guys have a few rules:
* They cannot pay for any transportation
* They must take a photo in front of every state capitol building in each state
* They must blog about their travels at least once a day and at least once in every state
Having recently completed college, they didn't want to follow the path of their fellow graduates by getting a job. Instead, they wanted to meet people, travel and have some fun in the process.
They began their trip in Albany, NY, traveled down the East Coast to Florida, made their way through the Southeast, caught a flight to Juneau and back to Washington, across the Northwest and North and are currently in Madison, WI. They expect to end up in California or Hawaii.
When you read their blog, you realize their experiences are a true testament to how our fellow citizens are willing to support you as a traveler. It's easy to forget this when your day consists of road raging drivers and cranky co-workers. I have always found that people will come out of the woodwork to help when I'm lost or am in a jam when I'm on the road. Not only is Hitch 50 a great read but it's an inspiration and a reinforcement of the good spirit of people across the United States.
Happy Travels!
