A Few Quick Thoughts...

My picture looks remarkably similar to the guy who writes the "Bodybuilder Chronicles" reader blog.

Brett Favre is a New York Jet - - thank God. After being bombarded this past month with stories about his status with the Packers, I was considering retirement myself.

(And then I would un-retire, selfishly handcuff the Seattle P-I into guaranteeing me a spot on "Today's picks" every time I post, and if they don't concede, demand a trade to the Times.)

The terms of the conditional draft pick the Packers receive are comical: they get a 4th round pick in exchange for Favre, but if he plays 50 percent of the snaps it becomes a 3rd round pick; if he plays 70 percent of the snaps and the Jets make the playoffs, a 2nd round pick; 80 percent and a trip to the Super Bowl, a 1st round pick.

If he makes the Pro Bowl does Ted Thompson have to wear a Brett Favre Jets jersey to Packers press conferences?

The Favre saga has also led me to a newfound distaste for Fox Sports reporter Jay Glazer.

Hey Jay, you aren't friends with Brett. Nobody believes you two are close. Trust me.

If this continues, Glazer will be rapidly approaching Skip Bayless/Jay Mariotti territory - - not exactly reporters you want to mentioned in the same sentence with.

On another note, I am going to Vegas this weekend, where I intend to sit in a sports book (likely by myself) and bet on the Seahawks preseason game against the Vikings.

This will be my first foray into preseason sports betting, and it's already a strong contender to make my "all-time lows" list. If all goes according to plan, it will be right up there with seeing "Mama Mia" the musical, and the time I found out those chips aren't redeemable for cash.

At least my wife will be proud of me for leaving a wedding reception early, so I can accomplish this new feat.

24 days until UW at Oregon - - It can't get here soon enough...

Trading Brett Favre to the Jets feels like the Buddhist trading the Dali Lama to the Catholics.

Being that it is New York, I feel like it is more like trading the Dalai Lama to the Jews.

I thought that you looked more like the lady from the "Aging Spectacularly" reader blog.
