Update: Rudolph sent in a pic. See it at the bottom of this post.
This morning I got an e-mail from Chris Rudolph, an employee at Stevens Pass.
He read Monday's post about the upcoming winter weather -- and winter weather gripes -- and responded with a perspective different from the worry and panic we hear in the city:
In short, Bring on the snow!
Snow might stink in Seattle, but they love it at Stevens Pass. (Meryl Schenker/Seattle P-I)I work at Stevens Pass and, until recently, have lived atop the Cascade Crest since moving from Utah this time of year back in 2004. I am currently the Director of Marketing Services for Stevens, and in all seriousness, reading your post definitely made me smile today.
As I'm sure you can imagine after living in New England, this time of year puts us into high gear in anticipation of what we hope will be a snowy winter, and we find it equally amusing that people weigh in on both sides of whether winter is to be considered, well, good weather.
So to add my share to this dialogue, I hope that this winter will prove as bountiful as the one just past.
At about 11:40 a.m., Rudolph e-mailed again to report that snow was falling on the top of the mountain that very moment. (It's hard to see on the webcam, he said, but it's there.) He also said he might send some photos later on. I'll update if he does.
Update: Rudolph did end up going up the mountain this afternoon. Here's his pic.
"It's snowing pretty hard right now," Rudolph wrote in a 5 p.m. e-mail. "I might bring my skis to work tomorrow."

I also used to subscribe to the notion that real Seattleites don't use umbrellas, but then I decided that I'd rather be dry than a real Seattleite"

What happened to : "...We still don't get citizen journalism"? That was only 4 days ago.
I don't believe it's snowing on Stevens until I get a reliable source saying so.
