The state is finally releasing a list of 30 grocery stores that will be allowed to have wine and beer tastings between Oct. 1 of this year and Sept. 30 2009.

It's just a pilot program, mind you. After all, the state wants to keep its options open in case these events turn into wild, drunken orgies or something. Um ... because that's a big risk at wine tastings.
The Washington State Liquor Control board will deliver a report on the effects of the tastings to the Legislature in December 2009.
The Legislature created the pilot program during its 2008 session because tastings promote promote local wines and beers and are also said to help customers make better beverage choices. But sobriety advocates are not happy, as the P-I has chronicled.
Many participating grocery stores are in the Seattle area. You can find a list of stores on the Liquor Control Board's Web site.
But don't get too excited. There are a slew of complicated rules grocery stores will have to follow. Among other rules, they can't have more than one tasting per month and wine and beer samples have to be two ounces or less.
Oh, and you can't drink more than four ounces of alcohol in a single visit. Lame.

The WSLCB needs to die. This state has ridiculous liquor laws.
