It happened slowly, but surely. And now a small college's summer handbook is an annual reminder to the rest of us that yes, we're getting old.
Beloit College in Wisconsin today released its annual Mindset List - a chronicle of post-teen traits that attempts to chart the cultural gap between professors and a new class of incoming freshmen.
This year's list has some real winners:
They never "rolled down" a car window.
They have grown up with bottled water.
They learned about JFK from Oliver Stone and Malcolm X from Spike Lee.
The space program has never really caught their attention except in disasters.
They get much more information from Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert than from the newspaper.
That was just a sampling, but it's really worth it to scroll the whole list, just to see how the writers really went out of their way to be hip.
"No one has ever been able to sit down comfortably to a meal of 'liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.'" Couldn't they just say they grew up with "Silence of the Lambs?"

Unfortunately, Monica, you blasted facts from the 2007 list, not that of 2008. Even online reporters can use Google...
