People are actually bidding on Seattle's failed high-tech toilets

Readers left many colorful suggestions for what Seattle could do with those five high-tech toilets it failed to sell on eBay last month:

trycity: Bronze one and display it.
trialvisit: Donate one of them to Paul Allen for his Experience Metamucil Project.
David_Spademan: Market them as what they really are: 5 minute prostitution booths and they'll go quick!

Alas, the toilets are back on the online auction block. And this time, they might actually sell. With 130 total bids, the self-cleaning wonders have so far drawn $7,388.88.

It's not the $5 million the city has spent to buy and operate them since 2004, when they began to attract prostitutes and drug dealers in parks around Seattle and sparked one of the city's stinkiest political disasters. But it's a start.

In the city's first go on the online auction, the city set a minimum bid of $89,000 that no one took.

Prospective buyers have placed the highest bid - $1,875.00 - on the toilet installed at the Elliott Bay waterfront. Maybe it's the view?

The auction closes Aug. 14.

Seattle should create its own reality show and require Mayor McCheese to live in one of the toilers for 60 days. Sell that program on Ebay and you would make a million. Less than 9k, thats laughable !

These toilets are a natural for Cascara at the Villages. For such an active community, you don't ever want to be more than a couple of minutes away from a public toilet.

The nit wits who ok'd spending 5 million should required to reimburse the taxpayers with the difference after their great experiments are sold.
