John Cusimano, husband of cooking guru and Food Network star Rachael Ray, is bringing his rock band, The Cringe, to Seattle for a performance Tuesday, July 29, at Nectar Lounge.
In addition to singer and guitarist Cusimano, the band features longtime "Saturday Night Live" drummer Shawn Pelton. The New York alternative-rock group is touring in support of its current album, "Tipping Point," including the single, "And Then I'm Gone." The band's debut album was titled "Scratch the Surface."
The Cringe plays a blend of power pop and aggressive garage rock. Other members include bassist Matt Powers and guitarist James Rotondi.
The Cringe is a sideline for Cusimano, an entertainment attorney. Ray and Cusimano were married in Tuscany in 2005.
Last year, Cusimano became tabloid fodder when a Florida woman claimed she had been having a kinky affair with him since the beginning of his marriage to Ray. But Ray dismissed the rumors on her talk show, putting an end to the bizarre story.
In March, The Cringe performed at the SXSW Music Festival and Conference in Austin, Texas, where Ray was host of a party that featured her "seven-layer slider" burgers and a band named Holy (expletive deleted).
"We have very eclectic tastes. We listen to everything," Ray told the American-Statesman in Austin.
"We are both devout followers of the Foo Fighters. We both love John Coltrane, Ella Fitzgerald, opera and indie rock. That's what I like about Austin, it's not just one scene."
Tickets to The Cringe are $8. Music begins at 8 p.m.

I also used to subscribe to the notion that real Seattleites don't use umbrellas, but then I decided that I'd rather be dry than a real Seattleite"
