As someone born and raised in Western WA and want the Sonics to stay here, both states should read this article:
    http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=jackson/080703

While the whole thing upsets me, we shouldn't be mean to OKC and vice versa. It's Shultz and Clay's boys we should be upset with.

Meanwhile, my first thought was the Bandits.
I saw they had a poll there and one named mentioned was the Thunderbirds. Ummm, you steal one Seattle team and then try to rip off the name of another one? Low class there.

    #147281

Posted by Crimson Edgar at 7/4/08 12:47 p.m.

Thunderbirds is right apt for Ok.- the indiginous heritage, aviation history with Tinker AFB & the Air Force T-Birds,& the Fighting 45th Infantry currently sweating their gonads off in Mesopotamia. It's also a lake by my house , and a casino, an inn , a lodge , liquor store, my jr. high's mascot, etc...

To the people of Oklahoma I have to apologize for us Seattle people having a little fun with our anger. I can speak for most Seattlites when I say that we realize 99.99 percent of the Oklahoma population are probably good people of high ethics. Unfortunately Clay Bennett came here bragging about his Oklahoma heritage and then lied to our faces. He does not represent you well. If it wasn't for the fact that he got you a basketball team by his underhanded dealings I expect you might have sent him back to us tarred and feathered. Unfortunately you will probably label him a hero and ignore his misdeeds so you can name a team like Thunderbirds or Tornadoes. So please allow us our humor to bury our sorrows and anger as we lose something dear to our hearts. I am 43 years old and can't remember not having a Sonics team to cheer for. My son and I are very sad about this.

So cheer for your Oklahoma Sooners and your new NBA Oklahoma Laters. I hope you appreciate them while they are there because sooner or later they will be gone.

How about the OKC 'Rearview Mirrors'?

Let's go get an NHL franchise. I am so done with the NBA. Lousy product and it has been for years, and will continue to be.

Sorry OKC, an NBA team is NOT going to make you a World Class city ! It takes much more than what you (now) have. I've been there..not impressed. (But the people I met were very nice!) Bring the NHL to Seattle...much better pro organization.

I am not registering because I'll never be back to this post, but I'll sign my name at the end. I live in Midwest City, OK. I have a very good friend that Lives in Seattle, so I have a connection to both cities. I get the humor and the venting. Clay Bennet A.K.A Satan stole your team. I don't trust him as far as I can throw the space needle.

Now to the chickens who won't put their name on their posts. The reason the Oklahoma City Bombers wont work: (see posts #147176 and 147399)
4/19/1995. The second worse terrorist attack in our nations history. 163 people were killed including 17 children. You are one sick person to use that event as a way to vent about loosing a sports team. as I said earlier, I get the venting. Take it out on Bennet et. al. But not on the victims of one of the worse events ever.

    -or-

    -or-

The Seattle didn't try so OKC has an NBA team?

Wow, reading all these posts makes me appreciate my education much more.

To Seattle- sorry, you had your chance, you knew it was coming. at least you get to keep that WNBA team :)

To all the Oklahoma haters, get real. The Hornets f*****n THRIVED here. They had massive fan support (even though it everybody knew it was temporary), and the team had nothing but good things to say about our market. Our arena is good to go, and we actually WANT the team. Unlike Seattle, who didn't seem to give a f*** until the team was basically gone already.

To all the people who say "Oklahoma City Bombers". I have a good sense of humor, but that's just cold. Think about that, really.

Thunderbirds/Thundercats are horrible names. The Oklahoma Outlaws or the Oklahoma Bandits get my vote. Actually, anything but the Twisters gets my vote.

You know what the BEST thing about OKLAHOMA is?
    -
after the bombing the PEOPLE stood beside each other.
after katrina the PEOPLE opened their homes and hearts to strangers.
after the F5 tornado destroyed our homes the PEOPLE pulled together.
after reading what most SEATTLE people are saying, l think you could learn alot from the 'okies'.
your city seemed filled with hate. you keep insulting us.
    thats too bad.
maybe its better they move here too sunny, happy OKC
