Remember Edward Anderton, the 25-year-old from Everett who made headlines in November when he and girlfriend Jocelyn Kirsch were accused of having financed vacations to Europe with fraud?
Looks like they're getting their comeuppance.
Kirsch, 22, agreed to plea guilty to six counts Friday, including two of aggravated identity theft -- which guarantees she'll spend at least two years in jail, according to the Associated Press. Anderton was offered the same, but no word on whether he's accepted.
The Pennsylvania couple were today charged by federal authorities with stealing at least 16 people's identities for $119,000. U.S. Attorney Pat Meehan called them "the poster children for identity theft." More in the Philadelphia Inquirer.

From what I understand, being the victim of identity theft can be a complete disaster. Given the way our society is set up, having a bad mark on your credit report can be really damaging in some very important areas - say your ability to rent or get a loan to buy a house.
And on top of that, although awareness of identity theft has gone up recently, it's still no small task to deal with the cleanup that has to happen if someone runs off with a credit card in your name.
All this is to say that two years in prison seems like a pretty light sentence to me.
That said, the biggest deterrent is the frequency with which a rule is enforced, not its severity.
If you got charged $25 EVERY TIME you failed to stop completely at a stop sign, as opposed to $150 once in a blue moon, everyone would be making full stops...
