Smells like Converse commerce: Kurt Cobain inspired sneaks

Well, it's been making the rounds and Travis Hay clued us in, so we had to check it out and it's true: Converse is releasing a line of shoes not only inspired by Kurt Cobain but approved by Courtney Love and featuring the distressed style he preferred, along with lyrics and scribbles taken from his notebooks.

Picture

We were really worried at first what Kurt Cobain-inspired shoes would mean. We imagined all sorts of ghastly images (too much exposure to "CSI" over the years) but reality is much more tame. The shoes are the same types he wore -- Chuck Taylor All Star, Jack Purcell or One Star -- and are available in black or white, hi- or lo-top and with or without the lyrics and will go on sale in May for $50-$65.

So what do you think? Tacky or tasteful tribute?

Kurt would have hated this, and Courtney should know better. Then again, she should know better about a lot of things.

Who are they really marketing these shoes to? Come on. Real fans of Kurt and Nirvana would think someone wearing those shoes is a total POSER!

It's an interesting idea, but something that Kurt would never want! Think about it, the last thing he wanted was fame...now a shoe company is profiting from his name.

Defiently something Kurt would not approve of and I'm sure Courtney knows that. I'm not going to lie though, I kind of like them.
