photoCeleste Flint

Celeste Flint is a University of Washington senior majoring in journalism. In summer 2008, she’ll be co-producing Spi.

Her perfect Seattle day would include a hammock at Golden Gardens, Peet's Coffee and swing dancing on Capital Hill. She loves Dick’s Drive-In, because it’s the only place where you can see both a guy in a suit and a guy with green hair share a burger. Born in California, she grew up on the Eastside of Seattle, where today she attends church.

photoCliff DesPeaux

Cliff DesPeaux, a student at University of Washington, is interning as a photographer at seattlepi.com.

Cliff is a staff photojournalist at The Daily, the UW's student newspaper, and has interned as a photographer at the Seattle SuperSonics.

Currently a resident of North Seattle, he grew up in Poulsbo, WA, and has played the piano competitively for over 10 years.

photoDrew Harwell
Drew is from Florida. His mother, Jeb Bush, and his father, a flamingo, sent him on a vision quest to Seattle. J. D. Power and Associates gave his blog posts the Oscar.

photoJoe Darda

Joe Darda is a senior at the University of Washington interning at seattlepi.com. While pursuing degrees in English and Psychology, Joe competes for the UW Cross Country and Track teams.

In addition to school and athletics, he enjoys live music, reading, and creative writing. Joe lives in the U-District where he spends much of his time at cafes on the Ave drinking far too much coffee. It is not uncommon to see him running around Greenlake and in the Arboretum in short shorts.

photoLaura Johnson

Laura Johnson was not always an intern at the Seattle P-I. Before becoming an intern she enjoyed hanging out at Alki beach late at night making crazy music with the gypsies. She is originally from Des Moines, a small community on the shores of Puget Sound, south of Seattle.

She is a senior at Pepperdine University (and is hoping to graduate on time) with a major in journalism and a minor in music. Although she does attend most classes her hobby of hanging out at the beach has not changed much at all. In her spare time she attempts to stay out of the way of fire, but not perhaps out of the way of firemen.

photoLia Hardin

Lia Hardin is interning at seattlepi.com while she completes her master of arts degree at the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School of Journalism. She hopes to pursue a career in multimedia journalism, science and health writing or both.

Lia is a Seattle native who grew up in North Beach (a tiny neighborhood just north of Ballard). Her favorite spots in Seattle include the overlook at Sunset Hill Park and Old Ballard.

In addition to journalism, Lia’s interests include flamenco dance, traveling and writing short fiction.

photoMolly Mullen

Molly Mullen is a summer intern at the Seattle P-I. She is going into her junior year at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb.

Molly, a Nebraskan, spent last summer as an intern at the Vicksburg Post in Vicksburg, Miss. She's happy to be spending time in such a wired and web-savvy city, where she can update news immediately online.

Ever since she played the computer game "Oregon Trail" in first grade, Molly has been fascinated with the progress of technology, and recently fell in love for the first time … with her MacBook. Molly is interested in web reporting, blogging and all forms of instantaneous news.

photoPaul Comrie

Paul Comrie is a student from Seattle Pacific University interning at seattlepi.com. He serves as co-executive producer of SPI.

Though born in Seattle, he grew up in the dusty streets of "The Real West" in Pendleton, Ore., learning to appreciate the finer points of steer roping every year at the Pendleton Round-Up.

The Seattle rain suits him far better.

When he is not commuting to work or holding down another job, he studies English literature and Journalism at school. On the side, he occasionally finds time to expand and celebrate his appreciation of hip hop music, movies, literature, and local sports.

photoShannon Schrecengost

Shannon Schrecengost is a junior Communications major at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma. With an emphasis in print journalism, Shannon's writing interests include (but are not limited to) features and narrative journalism.

When Shannon is not busy commuting from Tacoma to the P-I newsroom, she enjoys movies, music, ultimate frisbee, international travel and the Seattle Seahawks.
