Student designers impress at 'Project Red Dress'

Picture
This dress was my favorite. I think the plunging neckline is gorgeous and I love the deep red color and the layered texture.

Last night I got to check out Macy's Project Red Dress, a runway show and contest featuring student fashion designers from local colleges and design schools. The whole event benefited the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women Movement.

Everyone in attendance was decked out in their own red dresses and other formal attire. To make the event even more fun, there was an open bar with red cocktails, wine and Peroni beer.

The staff at Macy's seemed to be in a great mood and were really pleasant to be around. I also enjoyed running into stylists from Gene Juarez salon who had styled the models in the show.

I also think this one is fantastic! Such a cute, flirty cocktail dress that seemed to bounce as the model walked.

And the show was fantastic. Led by a very fun, flamboyant host, everything looked professional and colorful. Guest judges included local designer Luly Yang and Seattle Metropolitan fashion editor Laura Cassidy. An evening highlight for most in attendance was Nick Verreos, a contestant from the second season of Project Runway.

Of course, my favorite part of the evening was the dresses. Granted I know nothing about design school, but I was very impressed with the students' creations -- so much that I'm looking to buy a couple!

Project Red Dress was such a fun evening that I'm looking to attend more student fashion events. Anything you think I should check out? Please let me know!

I think you should learn how to focus your camera, but nice effort.
