ESPN's reporting that the deal is contingent on Minnesota taking Mayo. Speculation is that if Mayo falls to us at #4, we'll take him and package him in a deal with Miami that nets us Beasley.

If Mayo's not available, we trade down to #7 and get a player we want (Bayless or Lopez or Love?) AND an "extra" pick next year. Assuming that it's not Top-3 or Top-5, depending on what the "protection" classification is.

Lottery protected means the Sonics don't get the pick if it ends up being a high lottery pick. If that happens the Sonics automatically get the Clippers pick the following year no matter what.
