Occasional closures next week on U.S. Highway 2

INDEX – Starting Tuesday, Aug. 5, drivers can expect up to 20-minute closures during the day on US 2 near Index as crews build a rock and gravel buttress to stabilize the embankment under the highway. Crews will use explosives to blast a notch into bedrock below and south of the highway, to secure the buttress foundation. While the work continues drivers can expecet occasional closures of the highway near Sunset Falls, just east of Index, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, the state Department of Transportation said. More infomration is online at www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/US2/SunsetFalls.
