Education groups endorse Reichert

Rep. Dave Reichert picked up endorsements Monday from the Washington Education Association and The National Education Association.

"Washington educators appreciate Rep. Reichert's support for public schools, students and education employees. He understands the need to invest in quality public education," Washington Education Association President Mary Lindquist said in a statement.

Reichert, a Republican, is being challenged by Democrat Darcy Burner in Washington's 8th Congressional District.

And to those of you who constantly whine that the WEA and NEA are in the pocket of the Democratic Party, I demand you cease and desist such moaning immediately as your floor just fell out from under you.

There are other candidates besides Reichert and Burner in the 8th Congressional District election, so when the Corporate Mainstream News Media says that Reichert is being challenged by Burner, without at least a caveat like "among others," you are being deceptive, which doesn't come as too big a surprise from the CMNM.

John Orlinski is the best candidate for Congress in the 8th Congressional District.

It's easy to pick up those endorsements. Just say you'll fund them like heck on them when you get elected. That's all you need to say.

True David... the NEA and WEA are money whores. It's no longer a question of WHO they are, it's merely how much they charge. And just think, these are the same people educating tomorrow's leaders. Amazing. And RationalThought - Reichert is hardly a "conservative" Republican - he's more liberal than most of his "R" colleagues simply because of the location he represents.

Yeah, WEA & NEA, endorse the guy who's voted in lock step with Bush, cutting funding for education, refusing to back internet neutrality, refusing to stand up for the 4th Amendment, refusing to stand up for the separation of church & state, refusing to part company with his Party's stance that the nation's education associations are "terrorist organizations"...no wonder kids today have no sense of the political connections to their own future.

What is Burner's position on public education?

I don't know, but it depends if the teacher's unions send her enough campaign contributions, otherwise it's always tax and spend. After all, who will dare not support public education, it's like not helping old ladies cross the road.
