YouTube videos? Debates? Who cares?

Brace yourself for a shock; it turns out that some people aren't too keen on debates, regardless of the new format.

One of those people is Kurt Peppard of Federal Way, a grassroots organizer in for the Obama campaign in Washington state and a member of this local Meetup.com group.

When asked about if citizen questions submitted via YouTube video would shake the debate up at all, Peppard said he didn't think it would matter one iota.

"How much effect it's going to have?" he reiterated. "I really couldn't say. I don't think it's going to be all that significant.

"I'm not a big fan of debates anyway," he said. "I think they're really stupid."

After all, CNN will be selecting the questions that get on the air, and therefore the media will define the topics, he said. And in his opinion, the media is usually out-of-touch with what the concerns of the public really are.

"Being an organizer out here in the field, you find it's a hell of a lot different than what's reported in the media," he said.
