Strip club spat

This just in from the P-I's Angela Galloway:

Opponents of a referendum to repeal Seattle's ban on lap dances don't want to be identified as authors of the opposition statement in the voters' pamphlet.

Meanwhile, the three strip club owners' who sponsored the proposal are seeking changes to the way the city officials describe the measure in the pamphlet.

The city ethics' committee will hold a special meeting Tuesday to discuss both matters.

Referendum 1 would repeal the so-called four-foot rule and other measures intended to render such cabarets unprofitable. The City Council and Mayor Greg Nickels approved the rules after a federal judge ruled the city's 17-year moratorium on new clubs unconstitutional. The clubs owners have contributed nearly $1 million to campaign for their measure.

Heavens to mergatroid! Repeal lap dances?! How horrible! What would all the horny codgers do if they couldn't pay for a feel?

Doesn't Seattle have more pertinant matters worth discussing, like the lack of health services for the poor or our lack of efficient transportation?
