A high-speed chase ended in Des Moines Saturday afternoon with a car crashing in front of a Japanese restaurant and at least one man handcuffed, a resident who lives nearby said.
Paul Beeman, 81, heard a crash and went to the intersection near Marine View Drive South and South 218th Street. He thinks the crash happened around 4:45 p.m.
At least five law enforcement officers, including King County sheriff's deputies, had to handcuff a man who had left a Chevrolet sedan.
The blue car hit one vehicle and bounced off another before it crashed into some rocks in front of Sushi Saki, Beeman said. The car came to rest in a parking lot.
"He was screaming and trying to wrestle with them," Beeman said. "He was fighting them."
An officer or deputy finally used a Taser gun on the man twice, he said. He also spotted an officer or deputy carrying leg chains to the scene.
Beeman counted at least 19 patrol cars from the Des Moines and Burien police departments and the King County Sheriff's Office.
A sheriff's deputy, Beeman said, told him that Burien police wanted to talk with the man. But the car he was in sped away when they approached.
Another man, who was in the car, also was taken into custody, according to Beeman.
A King County sheriff's spokesperson could not be reached immediately on Saturday evening for comment.

I wonder if they had enough police cars at the scene?
