A man wanted on first-degree murder warrants in Yakima was arrested Sunday by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers working at an El Paso, Texas border crossing.
Salvador Nava Alvarez, 26, was nabbed about 4 a.m. after he entered the pedestrian inspection area and gave identification documents as required under the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative.
Authorities believe Nava Alvarez was a gang member who got in a fight on May 13, 2001 with rival gang Antone Masovero, Yakima Police Sgt. Scot Levno said.
"They exchanged some words on a street corner," he said. "Salvador walked up to the car where Antone was sitting in the back seat of a car and shot him in the head twice.
"We suspect it was in retaliation for an earlier gang death in Yakima," he added.
Nava was in the El Paso County Jail on Monday awaiting extradition to Yakima.

Same the time and money and let him go, but first let the gangbangers in Yakima know where he is and his name. A gangbanger kills another gangbanger isn't such a bad idea just as long as no innocent people are killed they can kill each other till they're all gone.
