Sexual misconduct charge at juvenile detention center

This report just in from P-I Legal Affairs Reporter Tracy Johnson:

A staff member of a state juvenile detention center was charged Wednesday with first-degree custodial sexual misconduct amid allegations that he had sex with a 19-year-old inmate.

Robert Heath Fox, 38, is accused of going to the young woman's room at Echo Glen Children's Center in Snoqualmie on May 6, undressing her and initiating sex.

The young woman, who was serving time for residential burglary, theft and forgery, was crying the next day and eventually confided in a fellow inmate what had allegedly happened, according to court documents.

Fox has lived in Washington less than a year, but does not appear to have a criminal record here or elsewhere, King County prosecutors said.

If convicted, he would face six months to a year in jail.

The Carnation man has since been fired from his security position at the facility. He is set to answer to the charge on July 10 in Superior Court.

From foster care to juvenile detention centers, the State of Washington hates children. Fire pits, molestations, rapes, murders, torture.... Washington is a dangerous place for children to live.

Re-elect Rossi to clear out these government no-load employees. How much more can we take under queen christines watch?

Is Rossi going to personally interview every applicant for guard at all detention facilities, or will the same HR people be doing their jobs no matter who is governor?

My money is on the later and not the former.

So changing governors won't keep criminals or wanna-be criminals from seeking and obtaining jobs in the public sector - or private sector, for that matter.

Do we hold Paccar accountable for having hired and employed Gary Ridgeway? No. So why should the public sector be any different? HR managers can't foresee who is and who is not going to ever commit a crime while employed by their organization. To demand such of the State is ridiculous.

Hugh: Poor taste in bringing gubernatorial politics into a story like this one. Of course, poor taste is what the internet is all about, but still. Shame, shame.

No point using a story like this to try to push politics... everyone knows that there are bad people that get their ways into any job, whether it be in the private field or public service.
The alarming story here is that a guy was able to rape a young lady and possibly get off with as little as six months. I don't care what she did when she was young, she didn't deserve that and the guy should be in prison for a lot longer than that.

Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? I realize I'm a few weeks late in commenting, but I'm amazed that no one seems to realize that the guy in question is 'accused' at this point? I agree that if he is guilty, then he deserves more than 6 months. But aren't you all jumping the gun??

For the last comment... read up on the facts of the case. There was DNA found in the girl's room. I won't go into detail of what kind. I don't need to wait for a jury to think for me. He's guilty and they should be charging Heath Fox with rape.
