Sunset bowl apartments

Following up on my recent post about the upcoming initial design-review meeting for the building that will replace Ballard's Sunset Bowl, here's the developer's report for the meeting.

Developer Avalon Bay Communities plans to erect a six-story building with about 245 apartments above 13,900 square-feet of retail space along the street and parking for about 294 cars.

The report includes three massing alternatives – with a fully enclosed central courtyard, a central courtyard that opens to Market Street and two courtyards opening to Market – but no detailed designs.

The meeting is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Monday, July 28, in the library of Ballard High School, 1418 NW 65th St.

What happened to the developer's plan to put a bowling alley on the ground floor? I remember that he made a comment to that effect and it would, obviously be an interesting idea.

"Avalon Bay Communities". Has a nice ring to it.
I loathe developers that tell me what color my dwelling will be, what type of roof I will have, what type of porch, plantings, etc. And where's my garden going to be?
Is this really for the greater good? I think not. The "greater" is the principals of the development company.

Will the last person to leave "good ole Ballard" please turn out the lights. This "progress" has a price that cannot be paid.
