Movie Review: Iron Man

Synopsis: Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is a billionaire industrialist and genius inventor who is kidnapped and forced to build a devastating weapon. Instead, using his intelligence and ingenuity, Tony builds a high-tech suit of armor and escapes captivity. When he uncovers a nefarious plot with global implications, he dons his powerful armor and vows to protect the world as Iron Man. Co-stars Terrence Howard, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jeff Bridges.

Robert's Review

Not as good as "Spiderman" or "Batman Begins," but still damn good, "Iron Man" is definitely a must-see blockbuster movie. Robert Downey Jr. really fits the part and plays a great Tony Stark and Gwyneth Paltrow plays a perfect Pepper Potts. I loved the heavy character development, but at the same time I think it was a little too slow for my tastes. About two-thirds of the movie was all character driven and quite sluggish in parts, while the other one-third of the movie had some pretty amazing special effects action sequences. Overall, I was very impressed with "Iron Man" and would happily go see it again in theaters.

Overall Rating: 4 Iron Soldiers (out of 5). Re-Watch Value: High

Brett's Review

Marvel's first solo adventure "Iron Man" looks like they did a great job coming out of the gates.  I really enjoyed this movie; Robert Downey Jr. did a fantastic job of bringing Tony Stark to life.  I thought the special effects (even though that doesn't make a movie) and the story were fantastic.  The movie is a little slow in parts however the non-slow parts made up for it.  Overall, I thought this was a well put together movie and a great job on Marvel's part.

Overall Rating 4.5 S.H.I.E.L.D's. Re-Watch Value: High (I have seen it twice already).

Trivia
: (1) An Aaton 35mm camera was accidentally run over by a tank during a shoot. (2) The Iron Man Mark I armor weighed 90 pounds. (3) 400 extras were meant to be filmed standing at Tony Stark's press conference, but Robert Downey Jr. suggested they ought to sit down, as that would be more realistic and comfortable. (4) Factual errors: Stark is said to have graduated from MIT summa cum laude, but MIT does not graduate people with honors.

You both failed to mention how wonderfully Jeff Bridges went from supportive regent to slimey evil creep bent on destruction. His role was well played.
