Todd Bishop covers Microsoft Corp. and related business and technology subjects for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

In addition to reporting for the newspaper, Bishop supplements the P-I’s Microsoft coverage with a related weblog on SeattlePI.com. In 2005, the Pacific Northwest chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists gave the P-I’s Microsoft Blog a first-place award in the category of specialized weblogs. CNet News.com named it to the “Blog 100” list of top technology-related weblogs.

A native of Orland, Calif., Bishop is a table-tennis enthusiast -- a past contender for the P-I’s internal ping-pong championship -- who also enjoys playing softball, basketball and tennis. He developed an interest in computers and technology at an early age, using his family’s Apple IIe and Leading Edge IBM-compatible PC, and learning to play video games on his friend's ColecoVision console.

Bishop was managing editor of The Orion, the student paper at California State University, Chico, from which he graduated with a double-major in journalism and business. During college, he interned for the Chico Enterprise-Record, The Fresno Bee and the Paradise Post. He began his career in 1996, covering general news assignments as a reporter in The Philadelphia Inquirer’s two-year suburban correspondent program.

He went on to specialize in business reporting, covering such subjects as utilities, advertising and commercial real estate at the Philadelphia Business Journal and Puget Sound Business Journal weekly newspapers. He joined the Seattle P-I as a business reporter in 2002.
