Gossip: Seinfeld, Gates film ad in Seattle

Following up on yesterday's report about Microsoft hiring Jerry Seinfeld to star in its upcoming Windows advertisements, I'm hearing that the comedian was with Bill Gates in Seattle this week filming one of the spots.

One resident of the Olympic Manor area, north of Ballard, says a location manager visited last week asking if people wanted their houses to be used in a "humorous software commercial." Then the street filled up this week with trucks, catering vans, tents, cables and a film crew.

The location manager declined to talk when I reached him by phone this afternoon, and I haven't yet been able to track down anyone in the neighborhood who might have been able to get a glimpse of the commercial's contents. Anyone out there have any inside information, or paparazzi shots of the scene? Feel free to contact me here.

Update, Monday morning: Locations in Brooklyn, N.Y., were also closed down in mid-July for shooting of a Microsoft commercial by Michel Gondry, the director of "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and edgy television commercials, reports Eric Lai of Computerworld.

That shoot also was rumored to involve Seinfeld.
