Radio host's dramatic reading of Gates rant

Radio personality Dave Ross of KIRO-AM/710 in Seattle noticed yesterday's post about Bill Gates' January 2003 Windows rant and channeled the Microsoft chairman's frustrations for a dramatic reading on air this morning. It adds an entirely new dimension to the e-mail.

Here's the audio clip, courtesy KIRO-AM:

What's really funny here is that Bill Gates... designer of the Windows operating system, that has been out for over a DECADE, with constant updates and 'improvements'... still has to reboot his machine EVERY NIGHT!! LOL

Or America could simply use a Mac and be home just after a three-martini lunch, before sitting down to watch an afternoon baseball game.

I believe it was Roosevelt who said "We have nothing to fear, but fear itself". But then FDR never had to confront a Windows XP splash-screen.

This is the best:

'Someone decided to trash the one part of Windows that was usable? The file system is no longer usable. The registry is not usable. This program listing was one sane place but now it is all crapped up.'

"I got 45 names for software programs, they are totally confusing. They are not filtered by the system and so many of these things are strange. I tried scoping to the media stuff, still no movie maker."

Honestly, do these sound like the words of Microsoft Chief Software Architect, Bill Gates? Sure, we sometimes use a more informal tone in emails. But for a man as brilliant as Gates, sending an email to his staff--I would hope he would be a little more technical in his descriptions.

To me, that emails sounds like "stuff" written by your everyday Joe Schmo end user just to get a laugh from you and me.

So I would seriously question the authenticity of the source.

It is authentic. Bill Gates confirmed it himself and made comments towards his email as well.

If it's authentic, then certainly he was being intentionally facetious to make a point.

This would only surprise anyone not aware of reality. You ahve witnessed all this yourself. It is as if you expected Bill Gates to have a computer from out space or something. Yes, he uses windows and yes using windows treats you like this no matter who you are. Except for Bill, not for that long before something is done about it.

I agree with Bill.
