Video: 'Ballmer Bot' mimicks Microsoft CEO

At Microsoft's TechEd conference in Orlando this morning, Bill Gates gave what's expected to be his last big keynote address as a full-time Microsoft executive. Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer wasn't there, but at one point they brought out a stand-in. Here's the video clip of Gates, Microsoft Robotics executive Tandy Trower, and a special guest:

That clip is via Microsoft, and it cuts off before a funny line from Patrick Deegan, the University of Massachusetts Amherst student who was demonstrating the robot. Showing the robot's arm movement, Deegan said, "This makes it so that it's even able to throw eggs."

That was a reference to the infamous egg-tossing incident in Hungary a couple weeks ago. Maybe if the Ballmer Bot had been there by the real Ballmer's side, things would have gotten really interesting.

See the full video of Gates' keynote on this page.

Nice robot, but can it run the most successful software company in history into the ground?

Why is the video freeze framed with the robot holding a diploma and the play arrow on either side of...?

I watched this without the audio & the visual had me thinking of a previous spoof to the soundtrack of duh duh duh, with Ballmer & Gates cruisin in a beater car & picking up a used free computer. Thank you, guys, for tickling my funny bone, again.

FEATURED COMMENT

PictureMicrosoft, you really need to start looking for revenue elsewhere. Resorting to bribing users to use your products and services is just plain embarrassing.
