Microsoft's bid for Yahoo has put an even bigger spotlight on trends in the Internet search market, but the latest report doesn't show much movement. Google saw its U.S. market share increase slightly from December to January, while Microsoft's share was static, according to Internet search statistics released by comScore Networks today.
Yahoo was the only one of the big search engines to see a decline in market share from month to month, but even that was relatively small.
Here are the results for the core search market, which doesn't include queries on related mapping, video and local directory sites.
Google: December: 58.4%; January 58.5%
Yahoo: December: 22.9%; January: 22.2%
Microsoft: December: 9.8%; January: 9.8%
AOL: December: 4.6%; January 4.9%
Ask.com: December: 4.3%; January 4.5%
