Hum, I was able to make it into work - took three hours, but I made it.

Then again if your building doesn't have power, not much you can do. Lucky Microsoft employees. They had the choice to either sit at work with no power, or sit at home with no power :)

That's a tough decision to make.

My brother lives on the outskirts of Snohomish~more out in the country. We have been trying for several days to get in touch with him. Can anyone tell me if they have power there or not? He lives on Meadow Lake Ln. I would really appreciate it. We live outside Houston and are very frustrated to not be able to get in touch with him. Thank you so much.

MS Corporate Security dropped the ball on this one. Their automated phone message at 7:00am on Friday said that the Main Campus was open and running on back-up power.

I (like thousands of my coworkers) drove in to work only to find that traffic was gridlocked on every street around the main campus as people inched their way toward work. Redmond Fire and Emergency trucks couldn't leave their station on 148th because the roads were blocked with MS employees thinking they should be at work. I got to my office, discovered that there was no power, then turned around and inched my way back home.

By 10:00am, the automated MS phone message was changed and recommended that employees not attempt to come in to work. Thanks guys. I hope that whoever the Redmond Fire Dept. was trying to help and couldn't because MS employees were blocking the roads is alright.

This was our Katrina? Are you really kidding me? This doesn't even come close! Come back when we either have "the" earthquake, or Mt. Saint Helens or Rainier (for that matter) erupts for real. Then you could possibly relate the two.

But how about staying on topic with the blog post next time?
