On tap: EU court hearing
News coverage is ramping up in anticipation of Microsoft's hearing later this week before the European Court of First Instance, in which the company will ask for a suspension of the European Commission antitrust ruling pending the outcome of its broader appeal.
Bloomberg News notes that Microsoft still hopes to reach a settlement in the case, while the Associated Press reports that the company says it is prepared to offer a version of Windows without the Windows Media Player, if its efforts to suspend the decision are unsuccessful.

Well, if the Euros wait long enough the marketplace might elminiate Microsoft for them.
A recent study of paid installed desktops showed Linux climbing from about 0.3% of all desktops shipped, to 1.0%. And that's in the last 4 quarters!
At that growth rate, Linux will easily become the dominant desktop OS. And that will happen far more rapidly in Europe, where standard distros such as Suse are created.
