Our correspondents report live from New York.
August 29, 2004Can't find one when you need oneDr. John Starr, a Washington, D.C., orthopedic surgeon, and his wife Judy were walking through New York City's Chinatown late Saturday night looking for a police officer. Not to report a crime but to get a good restaurant recommendation. The physician's grandfather was a police officer outside Buffalo so the future doctor learned early where to go for reliable restaurant info. But with all the cops guarding the Madison Square Garden site of the Republican National Convention, there was not a cop to be found. The couple settled on Shanghai Cuisine on Bayard Street without the help of the local constabulary and reported that the meal was fantastic. Comments
