Hearst Newspapers at the 2004 GOP Convention
Our correspondents report live from New York.

August 29, 2004

Eye in the sky

Looks like the familiar Goodyear blimp that we've seen for so many years over major events has been replaced by a green-and-white Fuji film blimp lazily soaring over the site of the Republican convention. With all the politicians gathering here, I guess there's enough hot air to go around to support a new blimp in town.

Speaking of the Fuji film blimp, it has been hovering over my neighborhood 24 hours a day since Monday. It sounds like a helicopter. Do they realize that real people live, work and sleep in NYC? I will never buy another Fuji product again.
