One in, one out

The Seahawks have made a couple of roster moves, signing wide receiver Chas Gessner and releasing offensive lineman Chris White.

White was listed as a center, but played some tackle in last week's veteran's camp because of all the linemen they were sidelined. Gesser, a two-time Walter Payton Award finalist, has been around -- as they say.

Here's the release from the team:

The Seattle Seahawks have released center Chris White and signed wide receiver Chas Gessner, the team announced this morning.

Gessner originally entered the league as an undrafted rookie free agent on May 2, 2003 with the New England Patriots and has spent time with the Berlin Thunder of NFL Europe (2004), the New York Jets (2004) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2006-07). He made his NFL debut last season with Tampa Bay vs. Arizona (11/4).

A two-time Walter Payton Award finalist as the nation's top Division I-AA player, Gessner also was a standout performer on Brown's lacrosse team.

White originally signed with Seattle as a free agent on January 15, 2008.

Is Tatupoo still here? Are they still going to be referred to as the seahawks?

Good to see more depth at WR. We need some threats deep and over the middle and with Gessner's speed and option at the 5th spot, it's a smart move.

Good to see some size added to the WR corps - Gessner is 6'5" and 220. Based on everything I've read, he's played his tail off in practice, but has been too injury prone to garner any experience.

I just deleted a couple lines joking about Gessners irrelevance but when i googled him i noticed he looks a lot like Joe Jurevicius...and "Joey Hands" is one of my favorite Seahawks of all time. Quite a feat given he only stayed for a year. That guy is the prototypical NFL player, he has all the physical and mental toughness you could ask for and enough skill to get the job done when combined with his aforementioned will and attitude. A little mean, a little scary, very good. Guys like Joe, Hutch, Mack, Bobby, that's what put the super bowl team over the top.

anyway i'm sure "Chas" will be lucky to make the practice squad but he did give me a reason to pause and remember an underrated member of the NFC champ squad....

Clare,

"One in, One out"? Sounds like you are describing the situation of some bloggers with respect to where their feet are in regards to their grave..... YIKES!

Sorry, its slow and I'm bored.

I agree, with Jonsmith, Jurevicius was a great Seahawk. It's a shame he only stayed a year. Given a longer tenure, he would go down as one of our best. If Gessner is half as good as Joe, he should make the team.

During Super Bowl weekend in Detroit, Joe's wife and parents were walking around with a camcorder, asking anyone wearing Joes jersey to say a few words. Given the level of enthusiasm for Joe, it's hard to believe he was only here one season.

jonsmith, the only reason there was a s.b.team was because the N.F.C. was at an all time low. "Got that right"

It's pure shenanigans to play the "this team only did this because it was a down year in this or that division" card because the argument slides in both directions equally. Look at the AFC in 2005, the two seed was Denver....with JAKE PLUMMER running the show.

Yet another hater. No team gets to the Super Bowl SIMPLY because a conference is at an all-time low. They had a sensational OL, a rejuvenated defense and a couple players had career years(record-setting even). They were the best team in the NFC that year - plain and simple.

You know the NFC is at a low - that's why the 10-6 NY Giants from the NFC beat the 18-0 New England Patriots from the AFC.

Let it go, man. It's getting old.

What is getting old is the Shehawk fans thinking they know football. All they do is talk crap about a crappy
team.

A crappy team that is one of the NFL's most successful franchises in the past 5 years? A crappy team that is #3 in the amount of wins in the past 5 years? A crappy team that is going to be winning the division for the fifth consecutive time this year? You've got no basis for that comment.

Stop trolling and get a life.

The more the Seahawks win, the more the trolls post! I have never seen so much negative attention given to my favorite team! I guess it compares to a comedian duing an impersonation of someone. The comedian usually insults, exagerations, and mimics the person to such an extent we recognive it as humor for it really is a high form of a compliment!

Go trolls and Go Seahawks

Dear unregistered what case are u talking about? The last five years or the whole 12th man thing that been going on since the team conception? Is it that the Seahawks are winning and continue to win thats bothering you or is it that your team cheats to win thats bothering you;I hope your children are not as misguided as you please!
Or is it that your wife slept with someone from seattle and you have a hate on for the west coast?
I know she prob got herself a real man!
He too probably a seahawk fan.
Oh well I been a fan through the lows and have so been enjoying football th elast five years and nothing you say will earse the wins, or take the memories of Mrallen raising the 12th man flag before the game! The Seahawks are only a healthy season away from thier first superbowl and it could be this year!

I like my trolls dipped in reality then deeply fried to a gut wrenching sleepless depression that consumes them all football season long
nighty night you unregistered troll\if you having trouble fallling asleep try counting
to 12
hahahahah
