More green love for Sims

One of eight "Public Official of the Year" awards issued by Governing magazine is going to King County Executive Ron Sims.

The nomination came from Will Rogers, national president of Trust For Public Land, and Roger Hoestry, Northwest and Rocky Mountain regional director for TPL. According to a release from Sims' office, "The nomination cited Sims' work building one of the nation's first and largest bio-fuel hybrid bus fleets, actions to adapt to global warming, conservation of open space and regional leadership to control healthcare costs."

Among the folks singing his accolades for honor is Denis Hayes, president of the Bullitt Foundation and founder of Earth Day.

He'll receive the honor Wednesday in Washington, D.C.
