Prejudice in the heartland

Some solid, on-the-ground reporting by Kevin Merida of the Washington Post illuminates the issues I raised in my last posting.

Yes, there are many Americans who cannot stomach the idea of Barack Obama as president simply because of the color of his skin, as the candidate's young field workers have discovered the hard way in places like Indiana and Pennsylvania. If you don't believe it, read Merida's article here.

...and today, Hillary is expected to win West Virginia Primary by a large majority and then try to use "this victory" to demonstrate her electability in the general election....

West Virginia, the home of Senator Byrd....Senator KKK Byrd

Surprise! Surprise!

Horsey is spewing WaPo propaganda and it is a crock!

Read the broad brush the Post uses to slander people. Note the neat trick in a lot of these examples: Use a term describing several or many people, then cite an example of one person uttering a racial slur.

The Washington Post today has really outdone itself. Did you know that Indianans and Pennsylvanians are totally racists? And if you live in Munice or Kokomo, Indiana or Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, you are a particularly vile strain?

Mr. Horsey, if you want to experience real racism in the heartland, why not attend Obama's church next Sunday and listen to the man who mentored him for twenty years.

Horsey probably does not have to go to Kokomo to find people who won't vote for Obama because of his race. I expect he could belly up at a number of bars around here and find the same thing. As for Kokomo, IN or Susquehanna PA, the issue is not necessarily whether everyone there is, excuse me, a bigot. The issue is whether the non-bigots 1. outnumer the bigots and 2. are willing to vote about it.

What makes me gag is that Hillary is willing to exploit this level of bigotry in the name of "electability." Whoever gets elected is going to need elected officials who have their back in Congress, and at this point the needs a whole unifying movement. So far I do not see that coming forth out of the Presientail primaries and I wish it would!

You want racism? A much higher percentage of white people vote for Obama then the percentange of black people who vote for Hillary.

Why don't you write about that?

The only GOOD news about any of this is that at least we are DISCUSSING the issue of racism.

Yet another Obama pass. Isn't WV home to those who "cling to guns and religion?"

The problem here is that David Horsey has long shown empathy for Hillary Clinton's troubles (doubtless because he doesn't want to alienate women readers) while ignoring her faults. Of course, one of those faults is using racial code words to mine the racial divide; how else are we to interpret her "hard-working people--white people" comments? While Obama has tried to distance himself from Jeremiah Wright, Clinton has forged ahead to widen the breach for her own personal gain, not the country's. The very thing that Kevin Merida has chronicled can in part be directly set at the door of Clinon. She doesn't deserve anyone's sympathy.

The media has demonstrated blatant sexism in reporting on this election, and Obama does not have the knowledge or experience to be president.

Thats the story.
