photoKrisanne Combs

Krisanne Combs is a 37-year old IT project manager and process improvement expert who finally stopped being a road warrior and realized she might finally have time to keep something other than herself alive.

She's now had kittens Franklin and Daisy for four months, and every day brings something new. Whether it's the sweet symphony of simultaneous purring as a langorous wake-up call, or the shocking toxicity of a kitten fart, everything they bring is new and interesting.

An east coaster by birth, Krisanne has fully adjusted to the west coast lifestyle after almost 11 years of life in Seattle. She's still adjusting to the realities of being a "pet parent," the worries when they're sick, wondering if they really notice when she leaves at 5:30 a.m. and doesn't make it back to the house till nearly 11 that night.

She's glad to have a terrific cat person as a next-door neighbor who's glad to take on cat-sitting duties when she does travel, but wonders if the cats even really notice that she's gone as long as the box gets cleaned and the bowls get filled.

After all, she's just the staff, right?
