July 27, 2005Instant replay TVYes, TV networks are rushing whole-season and series compilations out on DVD faster than ever, the Christian Science Monitor confirms. And viewers are biting: Variety reports that sales of TV shows on DVD hit nearly $3 billion last year, up from a mere $160 million in 2000. Mediaweek.com columnist Marc Berman lists the many pros for viewers: "they don't have to sit through the commercials, the quality is digital so it's great, and they can watch their favorite shows all the way through to the end of the season. Stargate SG-1 is a show that really keeps up-to-date on their DVD releases. In fact, I don't watch the broadcasted shows anymore -- I just wait for the DVD sets which usually come out 4-6 months after the season ends.
