here are some interesting overlaps, and distinctions, Sorry, my thoughts on what made the lists "interesting" got lost somewhere in the drafting stage. It's unusual for the two lists to share half their items, for one thing. As a general rule of thumb, many of the stories that people choose to read -- especially sports and crime stories -- often are not the ones that they end up passing along to other people they know. On the other hand, the stories that are unique to the "most e-mailed" list -- such as stunning results from a WSU study on toxins, extreme croquet and the "No Stud" drywall hanger -- give some hints about what readers find valuable and/or fascinating enough to pass along. Chilling, fun and useful sums up those three. To answer your other questions: No, we can't reliably tell where users are coming from within the United States since in many cases the only data we have to work from are users' IP addresses. And Buzzworthy is linked from the home page, toward the lower right. Posted by: Brian Chin at June 7, 2005 03:48 PMPost a comment
