It's in Microsoft's best interest to support legislation that is consistent with their internal policy such that competitors cannot cut their bottom line by providing inferior benefits or discriminate against their employee base. By externalizing their internal policies, they level, for example, the benefits playing field. The argument that Microsoft is concerned about boycotting makes no sense.
