Brian Chin's Weblog surveys the Web to spot what people are talking about ...
December 27, 2004Welcome back -- to e-mailIt's one of the dilemmas of modern business life: either check your e-mail during vacation -- or return to face an inbox filled with hundreds of new messages to wade through, many of them probably spam. As someone who travels every week (and has a Blackberry e-mail umbilical cord attached), I find the best way to vacation -- while not letting the e-mail pile up -- is to leave the laptop at home. Then find the nearest cybercafe and check it once every day or two, but not reply to any e-mails; just sort, so I know what I'll be facing when I return. Replying invites an early end to any vacation. But it is darned hard to avoid doing so.
