Brian Chin's Weblog surveys the Web to spot what people are talking about ...
August 26, 2004Scientists pick best SFIf you asked scientists from all over the world to pick the top 10 science fiction movies and authors, what and who would make the list? The Guardian did just that, polling a panel of more than 50 scientists in various fields from around the world to find out. "Blade Runner" is No. 1 on their list of top SF movies, which consists largely of the usual suspects, but also includes the original 1972 version of "Solaris." Issac Asimov tops the list of greatest authors, which contains a few unconventional choices: big name Robert A. Heinlein didn't make the cut but the usually neglected Fred Hoyle ("The Black Cloud") and John Wyndham ("The Day of the Triffids") did.
