The Matsushita Electric Corp. is recalling about 500,000 combination TV/VCRs because the device's cabinet can break during lifting, allowing the set to fall and injure hands and feet. The Consumer Product Safety Commission's site lists all the affected models, which were sold in 1995 and 1996 under the Panasonic, Quasar, RCA and JCPenney brand names. If you have one, there is a remedy: a free retrofit kit that will cover the sets' ventilation holes to prevent people from using them as handgrips while lifting.
