Brian Chin's Weblog surveys the Web to spot what people are talking about ...
June 30, 2004Coffee, tea and Wi-FiAnyone who frequents Seattle's many independent coffee houses can't help but notice that free Wi-Fi is becoming as common an amenity as "raw" brown sugar is at the condiment bar. Winda Benedetti examines the phenomenon in depth for us. She also provides a detailed list of local cafes where you can surf gratis with your latte purchase. (Yes, I know that Wi-Fi-FreeSpot has a much longer list but it doesn't provide hours or map links.) Update: Glenn Fleishman really sings the praises for Winda's story at his must-read industry blog, Wi-Fi Networking News, calling it "the definitive article" on the topic. I think a lot of people are using coffeehouses as a place to get some core work done. They're not distracted by the phone ringing. You can sit down and concentrate. Posted by: Michael Trusts at July 19, 2004 02:22 AMPost a comment
