Outsourcing then and there

WSJ.com looks to the past for insights on today's outsourcing problem. (That link should work even if you're not a subscriber.) From the original Luddites in Britain to the rise of the national railways in the United States, the use of disruptive technology to drive down labor costs is nothing new.

Is the storied open-source movement actually a poster child for all the good that outsourcing can achieve? That thesis by Brian Behlendorf, one of the movement's big names, begins a Salon series examining offshoring from the Indian perspective, reported on location.

The subsystem of the railways will be also developed in Eastern Europe. Means that they will soon move the majority of the directions on high-speed magnetic railways.

Engineering the new magnetic sytem in building the railways of a high-speed standard may probably cost a huge sum of money for most of the Eastern Europe countries...Some of them are still using the antiquated "human-carried" types of transportation.
