A kindly soul at MIT has designed a Corporate Fallout Detector to help you out: The Corporate Fallout Detector reads barcodes off of consumer products, and makes a noise similar to a [Geiger] counter of varying intensity based on the social or environmental record of the company that produces the product. Weblogging doyenne Rebecca Blood introduced this with the pithy comment, "Another MIT student goes mad." I can't put it any better than that.
